Oprah Winfrey calls it Quits

Oprah Winfrey Show cancelled in 2011

After 25 years, Oprah Winfrey is ending her long running show Oprah. Harpo Inc. President Tim Bennett announced "Tomorrow, Oprah will announce live on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" that she has decided to end what is arguably one of the most popular, influential and enduring programs in television history,"

Fellow talk show hostess, Ellen DeGeneres told her audience today "I got a call from Oprah, and she told me that she is announcing that next year will be her last year, It will be her 25th year, and she feels like it's time for her to stop. I don't think I could be here without her," DeGeneres continued. "I think she has blazed a trail.. she is an amazing woman. She will always be the queen of daytime television ... she is fantastic and I love her and I wish her the best. She deserves to rest. She has worked really, really hard."

Oprah began as the host for a WLS-TV's morning talk show entitled "AM Chicago," which soon moved up the talk show rankings to the point where AM Chicago surpassed ratings for "Donahue." Within a year, Oprah Winfrey's debut into the talk show circuit expanded to an hour-long format and was renamed "The Oprah Winfrey Show." 1986 marked the year the Oprah Winfrey show entered syndication.

According to the Oprah.com website "The Oprah Winfrey Show," has been the highest-rated talk show for 23 consecutive seasons, is seen by an estimated 42 million viewers a week in the United States "Oprah" is broadcast to 145 countries around the world.

According to Forbes, Oprah Winfrey's wealth was estimated at around $1 billion by in 2004. Last year, Oprah topped the Forbes Celebrity 100 list that measures both power and money.

Oprah plans to annouce the details of her retirement from the Oprah Winfrey Show on tomorrow's Oprah. Oprah is scheduled to run until the last episode of Oprah on September 9, 2011, as the 25th season or Oprah draws to a close.

Oprah Winfrey's decision to cancel Oprah has many asking, Why is Oprah quitting. The answer to why Oprah is quitting is simply a matter of timing. Just as with anything, it is pointless to carry on a show until nobody likes it anymore, might as well quit while you are on a high. Oprah's retirement will allow her to travel and spend more time away from home.

THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW JERSEY

The Real Housewives of New Jersey is a reality television program on the Bravo network. It is the network's fourth installation of the Real Housewives series, following The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Real Housewives of New York City, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

The first season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey premiered on May 12, 2009. The five housewives are Teresa Giudice, Jacqueline Laurita, Dina Manzo, Danielle Staub and Caroline Manzo. The series follows five so-called Jersey Girls as they live lavish lifestyles and the drama associated with their lives.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey

Teresa Giudice

Teresa Giudice was born in Paterson, New Jersey to Italian-American immigrants. She attended Berkeley College where she majored in Fashion Marketing and Management, but did not graduate with an Associates Degree. After college, she worked in the fashion industry in New York. She is married to Joe Giudice, an entrepreneur also from Paterson. They have three daughters, Gia, Gabriella, and Milania, and are expecting a fourth child. Giudice serves as a committee member for her The Real Housewives of New Jersey co-star Dina Manzos’ “Project Ladybug”. Teresa manages her daughter's acting and modeling career.

Jacqueline Laurita

Jacqueline Laurita 38, is a stay-at-home mother and wife of Chris Laurita for the past six years. They have a six year old son, CJ, and Jacqueline has a 17 year old daughter, Ashley, from a previous marriage. [3] She gave birth to another son, Nicholas, on June 11, 2009, after four miscarriages. (The show is several months behind real life, and as of the June 9, 2009 airing of Season 1, Episode 5, she was not yet pregnant.)

Dina Laurita-Manzo

Dina Manzo is a mother, interior designer, and the founder of the non-profit organization Project Ladybug. She has been married to Tommy Manzo, co-owner of the catering facility The Brownstone, for four years. Dina has a teenage daughter, Alexia, from a previous marriage. Her wedding to Tommy Manzo was featured on the television show "My Big Fat Fabulous Wedding". Manzo's foundation, Project Ladybug, is dedicated to helping children with cancer. Manzo's goal is to one day open “Ladybug Houses” so children diagnosed with cancer, and their families, can have a safe and comfortable place to call home while receiving treatment.

Danielle Staub

Danielle Staub 45, is a single mother of two daughters, Christine and Jillian. Staub attends mass regularly with her daughters. She also enjoys social gatherings, and her co-stars have accused her of being a former party girl. In the first episode, she discussed having phone sex with a man for 2 years, though she never knew his name. Meanwhile, she tries to prove that she is a fit parent after her husband left her. [5] Staub is a subject of ex-husband's autobiography "Cop Without a Badge." The book features a mugshot of Staub from 1986 and accuses her of being arrested for kidnapping, extortion, and drug possession.

Caroline Laurita-Manzo

Caroline Laurita-Manzo has been married to Albert Manzo for 25 years; the couple have three children, Albie, Christopher, and Lauren. She is also the owner of two businesses, Opus Properties, a real estate firm, and 4 My Mom, a children’s accessories line. In addition, she serves on the board of her sister Dina’s foundation, Project Ladybug, and is affiliated with The Carolyn Gable Expect A Miracle Foundation, which helps single mothers.

FINAL EPISODE OF AMERICAN IDOL FULL OF SURPRISES as KRIS ALLEN IS CROWNED NEW AMERICAN IDOL

The FINAL EPISODE OF AMERICAN IDOL was full of surprises as the famous and the wannabe's came out to play.

The first surpise was the amazing upset win of AMERICAN IDOL KRIS ALLEN who wowed the audience with his performances throughout the season. In a pre-AMERICAN IDOL interview, SIMON COWELL went on record to say he felt AMERICAN IDOL CONTESTANT ADAM LAMBERT was the clear winner. Perhaps it was ADAM LAMBERT's TRANSEXUAL KISS expolits or the over reliance on theatrics. Maybe America stepped up and said they would rather have a "wholesome" AMERICAN IDOL KRIS ALLEN over a sexually unsure ADAM LAMBERT. Whatever the reason, after all the votes were counted, KRIS ALLEN is the new AMERICAN IDOL.
Due to the worries of AMERICAN IDOL PRODUCERS over potential viewers, the FINAL EPISODE OF AMERICAN IDOL was a star studded even like none before. Aging glam rocker GENE SIMMONS and the rest of KISS made an appearance to do a performance with AMERICAN IDOL RUNNER UP ADAM LAMBERT. CINDI LAUPER came out of the darkness and KATRINA DARRELL, AKA BIKINI GIRL, came out for one last stab at the fame whor... oops Horse.

Other AMERICAN IDOL HIGHLIGHTS included a QUEEN DUET WITH AMERICAN IDOL RUNNER UP ADAM LAMBERT AND the NEW AMERICAN IDOL KRIS ALLEN

LOST SPECIAL - Another annoying Clip Show

Last night Lost returned with a shocking, thrilling and provocative all new special entitled "The Story of the Oceanic 6." Okay, you caught me. It's a clip show. But the trailer featured explosions, gunfire and people jumping off of cliffs, not to mention very dramatic music. Those hardworking trailer editors and marketing people do what they can, of course, to get fans revved up for a big old bowl of reheated island goulash that's likely to be hot on the surface but ice cold and hard as a rock once you get into it. That doesn't sound so special to me. It sounds like Wednesday night on a budget.

As you can see from the photo on the left Juliet isn't amused either.

The Lost clip show has become a regular part of each season, with past years offering up 'special' treats like "Lost: Past, Present and Future," Lost: A Tale of Survival," "The Lost Survival Guide" and "Destinatnion Lost." Expect a very long episode recap, the same kind you see at the beginning of every episode only much, much longer.

The special essentially comes in place of an off week, allowing the network to put something Lost-oriented on the air to soak up some residual ratings from fans who really will watch anything with Josh Holloway and Evangeline Lilly in it. The special also slows the loss of momentum that can be expected during an off week, reminding fans with wandering attention spans that Lost always airs Wednesday nights at the same time.

Calling the episode "all new" is a bit disingenuous, though. Even if the producers snuck in, say, a new extended trailer for the rest of the season as a thank you to the fans loyal enough to watch the dreaded clip show the episode would still only be about 2-3% new.

According to the official press release, "ABC once again invites new and avid 'Lost' viewers to take another look at one of the most talked about and critically acclaimed shows. 'Lost: The Story of the Oceanic 6' will explore the series in a way that will bring new viewers up to date -- but which current viewers will also find illuminating - in discovering what happened to the Oceanic 6 and the remaining island survivors during the three years after Ben moved the island."
Lost returns a week from tonight with a tale that really is all new, celebrating their 100th new episode with "The Variable." Well, it's all new if you don't count the "previously on Lost" clips. Really, I suppose it's only about 98% new.

SOUTH PARK - "FAT BEARD"

Cartman plans to run away from home to live the life of a pirate in an all-new episode of "South Park" titled, "Fatbeard," premiering on Wednesday, April 22 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL.

Butters and a small group of recruits join Cartman in his dream of living on Skull Island where they will frolic in crystal clear waterfalls and discover buried treasure. Cartman promises that paradise awaits, if they can just get to Somalia.

SCRUBS - "MY CUZ" - A welcome relief before the end

I’m glad I have a new episode of SCRUBS to cleanse my palette after last week’s debacle. SCRUBS is too good of a show to resort to a gimmicky vacation episode. Thankfully, it got back on track this week with “My Cuz”. It also marks the return of two characters from J.D. (Zach Braff) and Elliot’s (Sarah Chalke) past. Elizabeth Banks and Scott Foley are back as Kim Briggs, mother of J.D.’s child, and Sean Kelly, Elliot’s ex-boyfriend and J.D.’s nemesis. In a screwy plot twist that I don’t think anyone saw coming, Kim and Sean are now together making for some truly awkward moments between the four of them. It’s good to see SCRUBS back on track.

There were two main arcs this episode and both of them have some heavy ramifications for the future. The first, which I mentioned already, was the J.D./Elliot/Kim/Sean thing. What a weird lunch date that must be. I think my face would explode if I ever ended up sitting across from my girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend who is now sleeping with my ex-girlfriend. It’s kind of creepy, but it leads directly to the title of the episode. Apparently, if two guys sleep with they same girl, they are now sex cousins, or cuz for short.

I love it when SCRUBS comes up with these ridiculous names for these absurd situations. It’s that sort of quirky creativity that helped make SCRUBS such a koolarious show (that’s kooky + hilarious, btw). There’s even a secret pinky handshake among “cousins”, which, of course, you see throughout the show between some very odd characters. Seriously, who thought to bring Sean and Kim back in the show as a couple? Whoever you are, I need to shake your hand (but not your pinky).

While the foursome struggle to make things comfortable between them, Turk (Donald Faison) is hounding Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) to give him the newly opened position of Chief of Surgery. Dr. Cox absolutely refuses to consider Turk, even after numerous personal vouches from practically the entire Sacred Heart staff. It takes some counseling from Bob Kelso (Ken Jenkins) to finally make Dr. Cox realize that he is biased against Turk for personal reasons, and that he really is the best person for the job. After some soul searching, Dr. Cox relents and offers Turk the position.

It’s funny how far these characters have come over the years. The initial premise of SCRUBS was looking at the hospital through the eyes of an intern, but here we are eight years later, and Turk is the friggin Chief of Surgery. A lot has changed on SCRUBS, and it’s just another reminder that their stories have been told. Yes SCRUBS fans, the end is near.

Speaking of the end, I think we just received the first real clue as to how SCRUBS will conclude. There are only three episodes left, after all, so they better wrap it up quickly. J.D. decides that he wants to move closer to Kim and his son so that he can be a real father to him, and not, as J.D. puts it, a part time dad. It’s a big decision. Huge. It means J.D. will leave Sacred Heart. It means the end of SCRUBS.

We all knew this was coming, so it’s not exactly a shock. There is, however, the Elliot factor. Will she be willing to move away with J.D., or will they break up? It’s fodder for the final stretch. In any case, brace yourself SCRUBS fans. After eight glorious years, SCRUBS is done. Finito. Over.

Shocking SUICIDE on TV's HOUSE has KUTNER Written off show

Fox’s HOUSE delivered a shocking death tonight, the suicide of Lawrence Kutner played by Kal Penn. Kutner’s suicide on FOX’s HOUSE has put the net into a tailspin as fans react to tonight’s broadcast shocker.

Fans just comprehending the death are universally saying they are upset that Kutner was killed off as a character and that Penn as an actor has his storyline ended.

The rumors of the tragic Kal Penn death have been greatly exaggerated. There was no Kal Penn death. The character he plays on the T.V. show House, Dr. Lawrence Kutner, died, but the actor is fine. It’s called a TV show.

In Monday night’s episode of House, Kal Penn’s character Dr. Kutner didn’t show up for work and he was found in his apt. in a pool of blood from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gun shot wound. There was speculation as to whether he killed himself or was murdered, but most of the episode centered around suicide and Dr. House figuring out why Dr. Kutner would kill himself.

The real interesting aspect is how so many people read the news online and thought that Kal Penn, the actor most famous for portraying Kumar, had died. Some misinformation hit the Internet (coupled with people not being able to comprehend what they read) and all of a sudden the top 10 Google trends were dominated by people asking “Did Kal Penn die?” It was so prevalent that the number one Google trend this morning is Kal Penn death

To clear up any confusion, Kal Penn- alive. Kal Penn’s character Dr. Lawrence Kutner- dead.

MARK BALLAS DANCING WITH A BONER - Mark cannot hide his excitement over SHAWN JOHNSON

In the most recent episode of DANCING WITH THE STARS, it appears MARK BALLAS who was partnered with 17 year old SHAWN JOHNSON got a little more than excited over SHAWN JOHNSON's form. In the picture below, you can see a slight bulge in the penile region of MARK BALLAS as MARK BALLAS sports an obvious ERECTION towards his teen aged co star.

The MARK BALLAS BONER GATE has got the internet buzzing over the situation. One does have to feel sorry for the guy though, I'm sure his dance partner, SHAWN JOHNSON is quite freaked out by the MARK BALLAS BONER. SHAWN JOHNSON is no stranger to wierd old guys wanting more out of the olympian. It was only last week, a deraned fan broke into the DANCING WITH THE STARS set because he felt SHAWN JOHNSON was talking to him through the TV. A restraining order against the SHAWN JOHNSON STALKER has since been issued by the teen's parents. (Read more on the SHAWN JOHNSON STALKER here)

There is no news as to whether or not SHAWN JOHNSON will continue to dance with the BONER sporting MARK BALLAS

DANCING WITH THE STARS ATTRACTS STALKER

A man alleged to be a crazed fan of Olympian Shawn Johnson was arrested Tuesday near the set of Dancing with the Stars. Police later found two loaded guns in the man's car.

Robert O'Ryan, 34, allegedly jumped a fence at CBS Studios in L.A. where the show was filming, but was caught by security. Johnson's mother, Teri, requested and received a temporary restraining order from the L.A. Superior Court on Wednesday.

Approached by security while roaming the studio grounds, O'Ryan admitted he was attempting to meet SHAWN JOHNSON, 17, but after Johnson was contacted and said she didn't know O'Ryan, he changed his story and said he was there to meet Steve-O, according to court documents. No one in Steve-O's group knew O'Ryan, either.

O'Ryan allegedly told LAPD that he had "packed all his belongings and permanently left Florida to drive out here to be with [Johnson]," Teri Johnson wrote in the request for a restraining order.

Among the disturbing items allegedly found in the man's car: A loaded shotgun, a loaded Colt .45 handgun and Johnson memorabilia.

"This incident has caused us severe emotional distress, we have been on the move ever since and have not been able to rest at all for fear that this disturbed person will attempt to make good on his statements and attempt to harm my daughter and possibly us as well," Teri Johnson added in the papers.

O'Ryan remains in police custody as of Wednesday. He has been ordered to stay 100 yards away from Johnson, not to communicate with her and not to harass her parents or dancing partner Mark Ballas. Bail has been set at $35,000.

Johnson's rep, Susan Madore, tells PEOPLE in a statement released Wednesday: "The matter has been turned over to the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles District Attorney's office. It is currently an ongoing investigation and we are confident that it will be handled appropriately by all involved."

DAVID LETTERMAN MARRIES LONGTIME GIRLFRIEND REGINA LASKO

LATE NIGHT TV ICON DAVID LETTERMAN MARRIES LONG TIME GIRLFRIEND REGINA LASKO

Last night, during the taping of his Late Show, David Letterman let slip he married his long time girlfriend REGINA LASKO. Having dated for something near 23 years and having a 5 year old child together, it seemed Regina Lasko and David Letterman were beyond getting married, but apparently they stopped by ye ol’ court house in Montana last Thursday.

But, like all weddings, things didn’t go as planned when their pickup got stuck in the mud on the way to get married. David Letterman had to walk back to the house

David Letterman and long-time girlfriend REGINA LASKO married March 19 at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Montana.

Letterman told the audience at the pre-recording of The Late Show to be shown Monday night that “Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, `Well, things are going pretty good, let’s just see what happens in about 10 years.” The pair have one child, Harry, born in November 2003.

The marriage didn’t go exactly as planned, with Letterman telling the audience that he managed to bog his truck on the way to the courthouse. “So now we think, `Well, somebody’ll come.’ No, nobody comes along. Nobody comes along _ it’s Thursday afternoon; who’s coming along? Zorro? No, nobody. So I get out of the truck and I walk 2 miles back to the house into a 50-mile-an-hour wind.”

“It’s not Beverly Hills, it’s Montana, for God’s sakes. And the whole way, I’m thinking, ‘See, smart ass, see, see, you try to get married, this is what happens.”

David Letterman and longtime girlfriend REGINA LASKO have gotten hitched.

The host of The Late Show with David Letterman and REGINA LASKO tied the knot Thursday evening, according to Us Weekly, after more than 10 years of dating.

The two met mover a decade ago when Lasko worked for him on his show, and Regina is the mother of his son, Harry, who was born in November 2003.
In 2007, David Letterman told Oprah Winfrey that his son Harry has made a "huge difference" in his life - but doesn't always get his sense of humor.

Said Dave, "Mommy has to tell him a lot that I'm just teasing."

Prior to marrying REGINA LASKO, Letterman was previously married for seven years to his college sweetheart, Michelle Cook.

BIG LOVE Stirs up the MORMON POT with show about ENDOWMENT CEREMONY

BIG LOVE MORMON ENDOWMENT CEREMONY
HBO is set to air a Mormon Endowment Ceremony in its upcoming episode of Big Love. The church of Latter-day Saints has reacted in a statement and HBO has said that airing the endowment ceremony is vital part of the show and apologized if it has offended anyone.

Before publishing LDS's statement here is HBO's explaination and apology on airing the MORMON ENDOWMENT CEREMONY.

""We know that the writers/producers of the series have gone to great lengths to be respectful and accurate in portraying the MORMON ENDOWMENT CEREMONY. That ceremony is very much an important part of this year's story line. Obviously, it was not our intention to do anything disrespectful to the church but to those who may be offended, we offer our sincere apology. It should also be noted that throughout the series' three-year run, the writer/producers have made abundantly clear the distinction between the LDS Church and those extreme fringe groups who practice polygamy."

LDS Statement on HBO's Airing of MORMON ENDOWMENT CEREMONY in BIG LOVE.

Like other large faith groups, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sometimes finds itself on the receiving end of attention from Hollywood or Broadway, television series or books, and the news media. Sometimes depictions of the Church and its people are quite accurate. Sometimes the images are false or play to stereotypes. Occasionally, they are in appallingly bad taste.

As Catholics, Jews and Muslims have known for centuries, such attention is inevitable once an institution or faith group reaches a size or prominence sufficient to attract notice. Yet Latter-day Saints – sometimes known as Mormons - still wonder whether and how they should respond when news or entertainment media insensitively trivialize or misrepresent sacred beliefs or practices.

Church members are about to face that question again. Before the first season of the HBO series Big Love aired more than two years ago, the show’s creators and HBO executives assured the Church that the series wouldn’t be about Mormons. However, Internet references to Big Love indicate that more and more Mormon themes are now being woven into the show and that the characters are often unsympathetic figures who come across as narrow and self-righteous. And according to TV Guide, it now seems the show’s writers are to depict what they understand to be sacred temple ceremonies.

Certainly Church members are offended when their most sacred practices are misrepresented or presented without context or understanding. Last week some Church members began e-mail chains calling for cancellations of subscriptions to AOL, which, like HBO, is owned by Time Warner. Certainly such a boycott by hundreds of thousands of computer-savvy Latter-day Saints could have an economic impact on the company. Individual Latter-day Saints have the right to take such actions if they choose.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as an institution does not call for boycotts. Such a step would simply generate the kind of controversy that the media loves and in the end would increase audiences for the series. As Elder M. Russell Ballard and Elder Robert D. Hales of the Council of the Twelve Apostles have both said recently, when expressing themselves in the public arena, Latter-day Saints should conduct themselves with dignity and thoughtfulness.

Not only is this the model that Jesus Christ taught and demonstrated in his own life, but it also reflects the reality of the strength and maturity of Church members today. As someone recently said, “This isn’t 1830, and there aren’t just six of us anymore.” In other words, with a global membership of thirteen and a half million there is no need to feel defensive when the Church is moving forward so rapidly. The Church’s strength is in its faithful members in 170-plus countries, and there is no evidence that extreme misrepresentations in the media that appeal only to a narrow audience have any long-term negative effect on the Church.

Examples:

* During the Mitt Romney election campaign for the presidency of the United States, commentator Lawrence O’Donnell hurled abuse at the Church in a television moment that became known among many Church members as “the O’Donnell rant.” Today, his statements are remembered only as a testament to intolerance and ignorance. They had no effect on the Church that can be measured.
* When the comedy writers for South Park produced a gross portrayal of Church history, individual Church members no doubt felt uncomfortable. But once again it inflicted no perceptible or lasting damage to a church that is growing by at least a quarter of a million new members every year.
* When an independent film company produced a grossly distorted version of the Mountain Meadows Massacre two years ago, the Church ignored it. Perhaps partly as a result of that refusal to engender the controversy that the producers hoped for, the movie flopped at the box office and lost millions.
* In recent months, some gay activists have barraged the media with accusations about “hateful” attitudes of Latter-day Saints in supporting Proposition 8 in California, which maintained the traditional definition of marriage. They even organized a protest march around the Salt Lake Temple. Again, the Church has refused to be goaded into a Mormons versus gays battle and has simply stated its position in tones that are reasonable and respectful. Meanwhile, missionary work and Church members in California remain as robust and vibrant as ever, and support for the Church has come from many unexpected quarters — including some former critics and other churches.

Now comes another series of Big Love, and despite earlier assurances from HBO it once again blurs the distinctions between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the show’s fictional non-Mormon characters and their practices. Such things say much more about the insensitivities of writers, producers and TV executives than they say about Latter-day Saints.

If the Church allowed critics and opponents to choose the ground on which its battles are fought, it would risk being distracted from the focus and mission it has pursued successfully for nearly 180 years. Instead, the Church itself will determine its own course as it continues to preach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

HOLLY MADISON - DANCING WITH THE STARS

"Dancing with the Stars" producers scrambled on Friday to find two swift replacements for next week's season premiere after singer Jewel and celebrity journalist Nancy O'Dell dropped out with injuries.

The hit ABC show "Dancing with the Stars" said it would not reveal the replacements until the eighth season kicks off on Monday.

But celebrity news sites said former Playboy model Holly Madison was expected to be one of them.

HOLLY MADISON, 30, was Playboy founder Hugh Hefner's "number one girlfriend" and starred in the U.S. TV reality show "The Girls Next Door" before ending her relationship with Hefner last year.

"She's wanted to do it for so long," Madison's friend Bridget Marquardt told the Fox News Strategy Room discussion show.

"It just never worked with her schedule and Hef was always like 'I don't want you to do that,' and now it's her time, so I'm really happy for her," Marquardt said.

ABC said that Jewel, a Grammy winning singer, had to leave the show after suffering a fractured tibia in each leg.

O'Dell, a journalist from the celebrity news show "Access Hollywood," was sidelined with a torn meniscus in her knee. Both contestants suffered the injuries in practice.

There was no news Friday on who might replace O'Dell.

Former Playboy models have appeared on "Dancing with the Stars" in the past. Last season's champion, model and host BROOKE BURKE once stripped down for Playboy, as did former contestant KIM KARDASHIAN and 1980s pop singer BELINDA CARLISLE, 50, who is one of the stars in the upcoming season. LISA RINNA Also posed for Playboy

The other dancing stars include Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson, rapper Lil' Kim, actress Denise Richards and former Apple executive Steve Wozniak.

"Dancing with the Stars", based on the British program "Strictly Come Dancing", is one of the most-watched shows on U.S. television after "American Idol." It drew about 19 million viewers per episode last season.

British Reality TV Twist - "Their Big Day"

British reality TV star Jade Goody married her fiance Sunday, the latest installment in her very public fight with terminal cancer which has enchanted and unnerved Britons in near equal measure. Jade Goody, 27, who found fame after appearing in the show "Big Brother" in 2002, wed fiance Jack Tweed in a lavish ceremony and reception at a country house hotel north of London, her publicist Max Clifford confirmed.

Their big day -- media rights were sold for a reported one million pounds (1.1 million euros, 1.4 million dollars) -- was organised in the nine days since Tweed proposed in hospital after her terminal diagnosis. It was a "happy ceremony with lots of tears, lots of smiles, lots of laughter ... (a) very beautiful, very moving service," Clifford said. He added that the bride had taken painkillers to get her through the day.

Jade Goody has defended her decision to live out in the public eye what will likely be her last weeks, saying the money she earned would help provide for her two young sons, aged five and four. "I've lived in front of the cameras. And maybe I'll die in front of them," the star, who has lost her hair after chemotherapy for cervical cancer, told last week's News of the World newspaper. "I know some people don't like what I'm doing but at this point I really don't care what other people think. Now, it's about what I want."

Goody's approach has prompted an agonised debate in Britain about the rights and wrongs of such a public death. Some commentators admire her fortitude and determination to protect her children. Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, the leader of Catholics in England and Wales, told Sky News television: "A lot of people say: 'Well, it's better if she did everything in quiet. But I think she's made a decision that she wants the last months of her life to teach people something."

Others, though, see something ghoulish in the volume of newsprint devoted to her in recent days. "There are precedents for the place that Jade Goody occupies in modern British life -- people once used to queue at fairgrounds to watch human freaks," the Guardian newspaper said in an editorial Tuesday. "But her fame really is a story of our own media age."

Even British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has described Goody's plight as a "tragedy", adding: "Everyone who suffers cancer has the thoughts of me, and I think the whole country, over what they've got to go through." Exceptionally, Justice Secretary Jack Straw stepped in to ensure that Tweed, 21 -- freed from jail last month after attacking a teenager with a golf club -- can spend his wedding night with Goody, despite it breaching his bail terms.

Goody's rise to fame underlines the huge popularity that reality television shows have built up in Britain in the last decade. On her first "Big Brother" appearance, the ex-dental nurse from south London came fourth and was best known for her loud mouth and lack of general knowledge, referring to East Anglia, an area of England, as "East Angular." She later released an autobiography and her own perfume before returning as a contestant on "Celebrity Big Brother" in 2007.

This saw her spend weeks being filmed in a house with contestants including Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who she referred to as "Shilpa Poppadom," sparking a major race row in Britain and India. Jane Goody's career subsequently nose-dived. Last year, she appeared in the Indian version of "Big Brother" -- "Bigg Boss" -- but pulled out after being diagnosed with cancer.

Shetty has said she is "sad" about the news, telling ITV television Thursday: "I really want people to forget the past and I really want them to pray and send her good wishes because that's something that will give her energy."
